Diversity is more than just a word - at MOA Berlin, it's a daily reality! In a guest article, our General Manager Philip talks about his passion for inclusion, his commitment to PinkPillow and why MOA Berlin is the perfect place for living diversity:
I am a man of conviction. When my heart beats 100 % for a cause, it beats with full force. This is exactly why I founded the PinkPillow initiative in 2013 - with a clear vision: to strengthen Berlin as an open, diverse and LGBTQ+-friendly destination and to create a space where queer travellers feel safe, welcome and valued.
What began with 23 committed hotels has developed into one of the strongest networks of its kind over the past twelve years. All hotels that see themselves as part of the PinkPillow Collection are actively committed to tolerance, diversity and a non-discriminatory welcoming culture.
The initiative is far more than just a marketing label: it is a genuine commitment. Together, we have developed binding standards for communication, training and community involvement. PinkPillow is more visible than ever - at major events such as CSD AUF DER SPREE, Christopher Street Day, the Lesbian and Gay City Festival, at international tourism events such as ITB and in close cooperation with local queer organisations.
Today, things have come full circle for me. With my move to MOA Berlin as Hotel Director, I am working in a place that is much more than just part of the PinkPillow initiative! Here, the values that I am passionate about are not only anchored in guest contact, but also deeply in the corporate culture. Here I meet a team that not only supports diversity, but actively shapes it.
Diversity is more than just a principle for us - it is our daily aspiration. We promote it through mandatory training, regular workshops, a wide range of ideas from our diversity team and the conscious celebration of cultural and religious diversity.
Campaigns such as Pride Office Day and numerous internal initiatives make it clear that we stand for a colourful, respectful and appreciative working environment.
The PinkPillow initiative continues to grow - supported by committed partners, new impulses and the clear attitude that diversity must not only be celebrated, but also defended.
With MOA Berlin as a strong partner, we want to continue to drive this movement forward - as an employer, host and passionate voice for greater visibility, acceptance and genuine inclusion.
